My Pura Vida Experience – So Far…

‘Often when a Personal Trainer like me, is trying to Inspire, Inform & Educate – its better to say nothing at all, but instead  let the clients, ‘walk the walk’ and ‘talk the talk.’

Joanna is one of my clients who was brave and confident enough to share her experience with you. Enjoy.

  •  ’I'm 44 and my ethos was mostly to watch my food and get a couple of walks in a week.  In my opinion I was a stone over weight.  I had my first pt the next day.  That was a shocker.”

    • ‘It ended with a possibility of throwing up on the grass, but thankfully that passed and I was amazed I got through it.’

  • ‘Each session got harder and harder for me.  Some strong days, some awful ones.’

    • However in parallel with this my  fitness improved.  My asthma has also improved.  I have cut my preventative medication in half and rarely need my Ventolin.  My body shape has changed dramatically and my posture is improving.   So the hard work was paying off! Friends have noticed also that I look much better

  • ‘Adam also put me on a  4 day food detox.  It was tough going with 2 days good and  2 days dreadful!   I was told to come off my coffee fix, the week before the detox and it was then that, I really struggled as I was a heavy coffee drinker.  Since completing the detox, miraculously,  I really haven’t gone back on coffee.  Maybe 2 cups a week?  I have also fallen in love -  with juicing and have continued juicing daily since detox began.  John and my three boys love them too.’

    • ‘ If you are anything like me, no routine, no fitness, no motivation, tired etc, Adam will sort you out super quick.  He doesn’t listen to “I can’t”

  • ‘His sessions are never the same, never boring. He completely trains you to revert back to the simple movements that you found so easy as a child but struggle with as an adult, like balance.’

THE STORY IN FULL:

My Pura Vida Experience so far,
I first heard of Adam and Pura Vida Greystones,from my husband.  His friends gifted John a one to one life coaching session with Adam with a view to  finding a  work life balance and hopefully, to quit smoking.   After meeting Adam John decided to do Personal Training (pt) with him for three months.  In that time, I noticed huge changes in him, quickly.  His diet and nutrition immediately improved. After each  pt session it was obvious that he was enjoying his new healthier lifestyle and he was getting stronger in mind and body.  He was now easier on the eye as they say!!’

Then John and I went to Barcelona for a few days break. After watching him getting up alone, and running every morning, amongst the “beautiful people” there, I said  ‘sign me up!’
My first session with Adam, was mostly about nutrition and how to improve my diet which wasn’t too bad overall but needed tweaking.  I’m 44 and my ethos was mostly to watch my food and get a couple of walks in a week.  In my opinion I was a stone over weight.

I had my first pt the next day.  That was a shocker as I have never worked out properly before so I had zero fitness.  It ended with a possibility of throwing up on the grass, but thankfully that passed and I was amazed I got through it.  Each session got harder and harder for me.  Some strong days, some awful ones.  I even got an injury in my upper thigh which was sorted out after Adam sent me for Thai Massage.  That was also a tough experience, however it worked and my leg was fixed.

However,  the hard work paid off. My fitness had improved.  My asthma has also improved.  I have cut my preventative medication in half and rarely need my Ventolin.  My body shape has changed dramatically, posture is improving.  Friends have noticed that overall I look better.  Weight wise I have dropped about 3 kilos?  My choice was to have a weekly weigh in which I dread but it keeps me on track.  Adam also put me on a  4 day food detox.  It was tough going with 2 days good and  2 days dreadful!   I was told to come off coffee the week before the detox and I really struggled.  Miraculously, since completing the detox I really haven’t gone back on coffee.  Maybe 2 cups a week?  I have fallen in love  – with juicing and have continued juicing daily since detox began.  John and my three boys really enjoy them too.

If you are anything like me, no routine, no fitness, no motivation, tired etc, Adam will sort you out super quick.  He doesn’t listen to “I can’t”, he politely but firmly gets me to finish my reps, he ignores my whinging!! His sessions are never the same, never boring. He completely trains you to revert back to simple movements that you found so easy as a child but struggle with as an adult, like balance.   I can finally do men’s press ups and have  proved it publically to my friends one night during poker!!   I have spent the last two months feeling sore, stiff but I’m a changed woman.

I am more aware of what I eat and have found a balance with food and activity.  I’m walking 5 times a week too with my girlfriend who asked me the other day after reading Adam’s newsletter  ” Are we walking tomorrow or are you training with Tarzan??!!”  Which unbeknowns to her was quite apt as his wife’s name is Jane!!

If you want to improve your lifestyle but still enjoy your dinners out and your Prosecco!!  Give Adam a call, as despite his tough training methods, is actually very approachable.
