Ethos Pura Vida Pure Life - what is it all about?

Pura Vida (POO-rah VEE-dah), literally translated means “Pure Life.” “Full of Life” “Purified life”, “This is living!”, “Going great!”

‘Pura Vida’ was first explained to me, by Estaban, our tour guide, while on honeymoon with my wife, Jane in Costa Rica.’ I thought it must have been some tourist thing, but then realized that the saying has a far more profound meaning to the people of Costa Rica, and the travelers who fall in love with this majestic country.

‘Only here for a short time, so spread some cheer; and then your gone’.  This struck a chord in my heart. It means “Pure Life” in Spanish and is very similar in Latin, Italian and Portuguese.  How simple and wonderful of a statement to live by and hence I named my ‘new gym’ and my ‘life role’ after it.

Some view the phrase as an expression of a leisurely lifestyle, of disregard for time. However, Costa Ricans, use the phrase to express a philosophy of strong community, perseverance, good spirits, enjoying life slowly, celebrating good fortune, whether small or large.”

Who is eligible to join?

Adam sets up a meeting/chat to decide if he will take on a new client. This asks some very pertinent and specific questions of you but also, lets you know the approach he take to training clients.

Adam is eager to work with people, who are already high achievers in other aspects of their life, but need help with their health and fitness. Once these Healthy Training habits, such as time efficiency, good nutrition, stress reduction and increased energy levels are formed, they spill back over onto all aspects of your life, enriching it in the process.

Triathletes and Cyclists

Adam also has a specific interest and expertise in working with Triathletes and Cyclists who want to improve their performance. Triathlon racing is Adams own way for keeping fit and personal achievement and of course he want to share this with others, though writing in Triathlon Magazines, and working directly with Triathletes, especially beginners.

Adam has a passion for working with teenagers. Although many teenagers “know it all,” I find I connect with them when it comes to respecting your body and keeping that healthy balance between work/play/socialising.

The Role of a Coach/Trainer

I think many people under estimate the impact that the role of a coach / Trainer can play in enhancing ones life. Many see it as low paid, low skill job and therefore don’t see the maintenance and improvement of their health as a priority when it is compared wealth creation, career and power. The fact is, that Ireland is way behind the likes of the US, London, Australia when it comes to Personal Improvement. These places have been through the peeks and troughs of recession and boom times and have seen it all before. However through learning from their mistakes they realise that any success in life starts which improving ones self. Working on the basics of Time Management, Stress reduction, Physical Fitness, Emotional Wellness.

So what is the role of a coach or trainer then?

Through my training as a Lifecoach I learned that coaching is all about working to the goals of the coachee, not the coaches own goals or agenda. The best athletes and businessmen use the best coaches or surround themselves with the best teams. In my own experience of using a Triathlon Coach, a Business Coach and a Lifecoach I can say that a coach improved my performances by up to 30%. That’s pretty serious improvement when you see it in the results and feedback.
